Kansas

Kansas CPE Requirements:

Registrants with an odd numbered license renew on 7/1 in odd years. Registrants with an even numbered license renew on 7/1 in even years. Each applicant for renewal of a permit to practice as a CPA in Kansas must complete 80 hours of CPE by 6/30 of their specified renewal year.

Special Requirements/Limitations:

Each applicant for renewal of a permit shall have completed two hours in professional ethics relating to the practice of public accountancy as part of the continuing professional education requirement. The two-hour ethics requirement can be met by taking our Kansas Ethics course or by taking any of our hour-appropriate general ethics courses. Follow the ethics link on our homepage to access these courses.

Personal development courses may not exceed 30% of required CPE.

All required CPE can be acquired through self-study.

Do AEG courses qualify for credit in Kansas?

Yes. In order for self-study CPE to be acceptable for credit, the Board requires that the provider be a member of the National Association of State Boards of Accountancy (NASBA) Registry or QAS sponsor approval programs. As members of both programs, our courses are accepted for credit in Kansas.

How are our recommended CPE hours determined?

As a member of the NASBA Registry and QAS sponsor approval programs, we are required to conform to the measurement standards contained in the Statement on Standards of Continuing Professional Education (CPE) Programs developed jointly by NASBA and the AICPA. Under these Standards our credits are based upon 1 CPE credit for every 50-minutes of study time, as determined by the average test results of CPAs pre-testing the material prior to publication.
